Although caring for the environmentally fragile world has always been taken serious by Rotary, at the start of his term as president of Rotary International, Ian Riseley challanged Rotary Clubs around the world to engage even more actively in environmental projects. Rotary Club Windhoek embraced the challenge and planted 27 trees and shrubs at the Oponganda Community Center
Members of the Windhoek Rotaract Club (young Rotarians) helped with the physical work. The youngsters also assumed responsibility to care for the trees and shrubs over the coming years, as their club’s ongoing community project.
